Dragonball Evolution premieres at number one across Asia

DragonBall Evolution the live action adaption of top anime series Daragonball premiered across 8 Asian countries over the weekend, making the top spot in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong but falling just short in Japan. The Hollywood reporter reports that it took $9.6 million from 2132 screens over the weekend in those 8 Asian markets.
Dragonball Evolution stars Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds) as Goku, the legendary martial artist Chow yun-fat as Master Roshi and James Marsters (Buffy, Smallville) as Piccolo and will closely follow an adaption of The King Piccolo Saga from the original Dragonball series, putting Goku at odds with the evil Lord Piccolo in search for all seven Dragonballs.
Although cinema goers in Asia are flooding in to cinemas to catch this live action anime adaption, US and UK fans will have to wait a little longer with Dragonball Evolution hitting US and UK screens on April 8th.
